Did You Know…
Somerset County is a leading advocate within New Jersey for sustainable, “green” design in the construction of all new public facilities. They have developed a detailed guide for implementing sustainable building systems, the Somerset County High Performance Public Buildings Program. Led by the Somerset County Business Partnership and the NJ Institute of Technology, and developed by a team of local business, government and non-profit professionals, the Program provides clear direction for the development of buildings that minimally impact our environment.

Hunterdon County

Delaware and  Raritan Canal State Park is a linear park which runs from near Milford south all the way through Frenchtown,  Stockton and Lambertville into Mercer County and then east into Somerset and Middlesex. About 50 miles long, it is a tremendous ecological opportunity for walking, bike riding, running, etc. Put your bikes on the rack and drive to one of the towns, park and ride to another town, purchase refreshments, stroll around town and then pedal back.

Bulls Island State Park hosts a popular campground in Kingswood. The Canal runs by here and offers walking, biking, bike riding and cross country skiing opportunities. While it’s called the canal towpath, most of the walking-riding path is the old bed of the Bel-Del Railroad that ran along the Delaware from Mercer County north through Lambertville, Stockton, Frenchtown, Milford and into Warren County decades ago.
