Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area

Hiking, biking, boating, rock climbing, fishing, back country camping along the Appalachian Trail, in a 70,000-acre recreation center along the Delaware River in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Follow Old Mine Road from the beginning at Worthington State Park, through the Delaware Water Gap, and through Sussex to where it exits Sussex County at the junction of three states – New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. Mt Minsi makes up the Pennsylvania side of the Delaware Water Gap and Mt. Tammany make up the New Jersey side of the Gap.

 

The Appalachian Trail

The Appalachian Trail (A.T.) is a 2,175-mile long footpath stretching through 14 eastern states from Maine to Georgia. Conceived in 1941 and completed in 1937, it traverses the wild, scenic, wooded, pastoral, and culturally significant lands of the Appalachian Mountains.

The trail goes through the following parks: Worthington State Forest, Millbrook National Recreation Area, Stokes State Forest, High Point State Park, Pochuck Mountain Area, Wawayanda State Park and Abram S. Hewitt State Forest.
