Pequest Trout Hatchery and Natural Resource Education Center
Come visit the Pequest Trout Hatchery and Natural Resource Education Center and take a self-guided tour to see how we raise over 600,000 trout each year. Feed the large trout in front of the Education Center and learn about fish and wildlife from our indoor displays. Pequest is open seven days a week except holidays from 10am to 4pm.

Pequest offers a free Hatchery Program to school and civic groups with a minimum of 15 participants in grades 2 and up. The program consists of a lecture and video presentation about the hatchery and our trout followed by an outside tour of our facility to get a first-hand look at how our hatchery operates. This program is offered year round and is approximately 2 hours. During the months of April through October Pequest offers a fishing education program for groups of 15-25 ages 8 and up. This is a hands-on program covering safety, ethics, techniques and equipment. All equipment is provided. Pequest offers many other programs throughout the year ranging in topics from insects, wild bird feeding, fly tying, fly fishing, spincasting, snakes and more. There are many opportunities for hiking, fishing and birding on the 4000-acre Pequest Wildlife Management Area. Visit our website or call 908-637-4125 to register for programming
