Phillipsburg was once a transportation hub, where 5 rail lines and 3 canals came together. Phillipsburg offers family fun with train rides, or ecotrips down the Delaware River in a canoe or kayak. Frenchtown is a unique and charming town with a cosmopolitan flair. Eclectic shops, unique finds, upscale fashion shops and fine art galleries abound. Family fun also awaits you as you raft or tube down the Delaware River.

Many other Skylands towns, like High Bridge, Washington, Newton, and Flemington, also offer farmers markets, antiques shopping and events throughout the year.

The New Jersey Skylands also offfers arts & crafts fairs, antique shows, exhibits and festivals that never leave a visitor wanting for something to do. Morris and Somerset Counties are less than 1 hour from NYC, and Hunterdon County is under 1 hour from Philadelphia. The Delaware Water Gap is less than 1 1/2 hours from both! So if you are looking for things to do in New Jersey when visiting New York City or Philadelphia, you will find plenty for a day trip. And visa versa - stay centrally located in the Skylands and visit both citys on day trips.
